My private opinion about Esprimo Q1510 is quite positive. So far I was wathing a lot of Hi-Res videos a lots of them on Youtube. My personal favorite is remote controller. I like to sit on couch and watch pictures and movies. What I’m missing is track ball to handle mouse pointer.

Device looks very elegant and fits to my living room. I did not test Esprimo for entertainment yet but will do it soon and you will see results of those tests. Device is really tiny which is good, as I wrote I’m missing TV card a lot, for me it would be big improvement.

My name is still typed wrong, could it be fixed please? :D

I'm going to make a little gaming test today, gonna install Civilization IV and try how it runs on Esprimo. Report coming in later today.

Here's a little list of games I think will run well on Esprimo:

    1. Civilization series
    2. Heroes of Might and Magic series
    3. Settlers series
    4. All the flash games

So there are plenty of choices for gamers also :)

Shot from our living room. ESPRIMO Q1510 does a good job and hides from view almost completely. This also shows how much equipment it can replace. From this, we could remove the old XBOX that we have used to stream movies, the Western Digital WD TV Live that also served the same purpose and naturally the DVD player can be thrown out. Perhaps even the Xbox360 too as we don't play that much with it any more. ;)

Two ideas, one solution: First point: Sometimes I need a little kick in the butt to keep myself active.
Second points: I want to point the readers on my blog to the esprimo-articles i write in these days. So here is the solution - another header and a new widget. Easy to find for my readers AND for myself ;)
This is how i try to kill two birds with one stone ;)

You asked for my opinion about the "little Q" so i can tell it to you in just one short phrase: I'm really overwhelmed :)
First I thought of never wanting such a small device - not even for my living room. But some days of testing the Q1510 changed my mind :)
I don't miss a tv-card too badly, because i will be going to buy a tv-stick if the esprimo will find his home in here. My number one-feature of my first test-days until now: Watching Blu-Rays of course - and watching hd-content on youtube. It's so awesome to lie comfortably on the couch and start the discs with the remote control. it's really the first time, that the windows media center makes sense to me ;)

So, I installed the Civilization IV + Warlods + Beyond The Sword add-ons and then tried to start the game.

When starting the game, Windows says something about changing theme from Aero to Windows Basic so that the would game works correctly.

Secondly, an error message pops up and the process is terminated. No Civilization IV for me then!

I'm not quite sure what caused the error but maybe it has something to do with the Intel graphics chip?

I know you wrote it before (and we had this diskussion already) - no change of the rules. So the only way to keep the ESPRIMO (and i really like it) is not to produce content with quality but quantity. Ok, now I will do that too.

  • Jun 09 th
    AbaS said at 01:27:

The idea doesn't look that bad at first.

But if you think about it it's very hard to find real usage for that!

Usually the ESPRIMO is placed somewhere with the TV. So you have to stand up and go to the ESPRIMO to use it.

The other point is that the energy usage of this panel would be big. This may annoy users and is of course important for "Green-IT". ;)

In the pic u can see fishville. and because it's a little small even on such a huge tv, when you are sitting three metres away i tried a little trick: i just use the zoom-function of my browser to make the window bigger - and now i can take care of my farm and my fish while lying on the couch ;)

I compiled a small list of freeware programs I would pre-install, or at least download for later use, to Q1510:

-Google Chrome / Mozilla Firefox browser
    -IrfanView picture manager
    -Adobe Reader
    -Flash Player for browsers
    -Java Environment package
    -All the latest drivers
    -VLC player for videos

You’re going to need the most of them for sure in the first day or two so why not to install them before starting at all? :)

  • Jun 09 th
    AbaS said at 15:31:

    @JUUSO / JUSO?

    - Browser: As you maybe remeber there was / is a big fight between Microsoft and the EU because of the browsers. Fujitsu shouldn't pre-install more browsers than windows does. ;)
    - IrfanView: Not every person uses this software (for example me) ;)
    - Adobe Reader: If Fujitsu gets a license they could pre-install it.
    - Java: As already mentioned it's all about the license
    - Flash player: NO! People should download it themselves because then they always install the newest version. :P
    - Latest drivers: Afair all drivers were already included.
    - VLC: Nice idea but many people prefer other software so that everbody wants something other.

The list is very nice but not very suitable for all users. ;)

  • Jun 09 th
    JuusoPalander said at 15:39:

Thanks for comment Abas, and it's Juuso with two U's :)

That's why there's "I would" because they're my personal preferences.

Another solution could a program, AutoUpdate software where Fujitsu could add RSS feeds for different programs that are willing to let Fujitsu computer users to download their latest software. That way there could be a variety of choices for every user.

A program like that is already available for drivers but not for other freeware software yet. I wonder who could code that for me :) I'd love it!

  • Jun 09 th
    AbaS said at 20:57:

    Alright Juuso (:P):

The idea with the AutoUpdater sounds great but there is still the question if the majority needs those applications. ;)

Usually people are disturbed by pre-installed software because for them it looks like advertisement and not like a feature.

This is why pre-installation of software is almost "dangerous" for the image. :P

But Fujitsu could provide a website with an overview:

People can suggest new software. They can comment it and rate them. This would be really nice. :)
